Hocus Pocus

Smart Contract Audit Report

Audit Summary

Hocus Pocus Audit Report Hocus Pocus is a new ERC-20 token that is an automatic liquidity providing protocol that pays out static rewards to holders.

For this audit, we reviewed the project team's HocusPocus contract at b7c2507d88f8efd4ea2066ca73bd5218 on the team's Github repository.

Audit Findings

Please ensure trust in the team prior to investing as they have notable control in the ecosystem.
Date: March 18th, 2022.
Updated April 12th, 2022 to reflect changes made to the HocusPocus contract.

Finding #1 - HocusPocus - Informational (Resolved)

Description: Several functions are declared public, but are never called internally.
renounceOwnership, transfer, approve, setNewRouter, getCirculatingSupply, isExcludedFromReward, setExcludedFromReward, isExcludedFromLimits, isExcludedFromFees, getMaxTX, getMaxWallet
Recommendation: These functions should be declared external for additional gas savings on each call.
Resolution: The team has declared the above functions external.

Finding #2 - HocusPocus - Informational (Resolved)

Description: The swapAmount and swapThreshold state variables can never be modified but are not declared constant.
Recommendation: These state variables can be declared constant for additional gas savings on each reference and to reduce deployment costs.
Resolution: The team has declared the above state variables constant.

Contract Overview

  • The total supply of the token is set to 5.555 trillion $HOC [5,555,000,000,000].
  • No mint or burn functions exist, though the circulating supply can be decreased by sending tokens to the 0x..dead address.
  • There was no token allocation for our team to analyze as the contract has yet to be deployed to the mainnet.

  • The contract enforces a maximum transaction amount (determined by the owner) which imposes a limit to the number of tokens that can be transferred on all buy or sell transactions involving Uniswap.
  • The contract enforces a maximum wallet amount that prevents a transfer from occurring if the recipient's token balance will exceed the limit number of tokens (determined by the owner) after the transfer occurs.
  • There is a Reflect fee, Liquidity fee, Treasury fee, Charity fee, Team fee, and Burn fee on all transfers via Uniswap where neither the sender nor the recipient is excluded from fees. A separate fee structure is set by the team that applies different fee percentages depending on whether the user is buying or selling during the transfer.
  • The tokens collected through the Reflect fee are removed from the circulating supply; This serves as a frictionless fee redistribution which automatically benefits all token holders at the time of each transaction.
  • The Liquidity fee charged during transfers is stored in the contract address. The tokens are swapped for ETH for the purpose of funding Uniswap liquidity when the following conditions are met:
    • The threshold number of 2.7775 billion tokens in the contract address has been reached.
    • The contract is not currently performing an automatic liquidity add.
    • The caller is performing a sell transaction via Uniswap.
    • The cooldown time since the previous automatic liquidity add has passed.
  • Liquidity-adds are automatically performed by selling the tokens collected as fees, pairing the received ETH with the token, and adding it as liquidity to the ETH pair.
  • The LP tokens received through this process are sent to the 0x..dead address.
  • The tokens collected from the Treasury fee are sent to the team's Treasury wallet.
  • The tokens collected from the Charity fee are sent to the team's Charity wallet.
  • The tokens collected from the Team fee are sent to the team's fee wallet.
  • The tokens collected from the Burn fee are sent to the 0x..dead address.
  • As the contract is implemented with Solidity v0.8.x, it is protected from overflows/underflows.
  • The contract complies with the ERC-20 token standard.
Ownership Controls:
  • The owner can exclude and include accounts from transfer fees and reward distribution.
  • The owner can update the maximum transaction amount to any value greater than 5.555 billion (0.1% of the total supply) at any time.
  • The owner can update the maximum wallet amount to any value greater than 5.555 billion (0.1% of the total supply) at any time.
  • The owner can include/exclude accounts from the maximum transaction amount and maximum wallet amount restrictions at any time.
  • The owner can add/remove accounts as a Uniswap Pair address at any time.
  • The owner can update the Uniswap Router address at any time.

What is a SourceHat Audit?

Typically, a smart contract audit is a comprehensive review process designed to discover logical errors, security vulnerabilities, and optimization opportunities within code. A SourceHat Audit takes this a step further by verifying economic logic to ensure the stability of smart contracts and highlighting privileged functionality to create a report that is easy to understand for developers and community members alike.

How Do I Interpret the Findings?

Each of our Findings will be labeled with a Severity level. We always recommend the team resolve High, Medium, and Low severity findings prior to deploying the code to the mainnet. Here is a breakdown on what each Severity level means for the project:

  • High severity indicates that the issue puts a large number of users' funds at risk and has a high probability of exploitation, or the smart contract contains serious logical issues which can prevent the code from operating as intended.
  • Medium severity issues are those which place at least some users' funds at risk and has a medium to high probability of exploitation.
  • Low severity issues have a relatively minor risk association; these issues have a low probability of occurring or may have a minimal impact.
  • Informational issues pose no immediate risk, but inform the project team of opportunities for gas optimizations and following smart contract security best practices.
