Smart Contract Audit Report

Audit Summary

THE WORD Audit Report THE WORD is a new BEP-20 token on the Binance Smart Chain that is an automatic liquidity providing protocol that pays static rewards to holders.

For this audit, we reviewed the project team's CoinManufactory contract at 0xf00cd9366a13e725ab6764ee6fc8bd21da22786e on the Binance Smart Chain Mainnet.

Audit Findings

Low findings were identified and the team should consider resolving these issues.
Date: February 13th, 2023.

Finding #1 - CoinManufactory - Low

Description: The swapTokens() function transfers BNB from the contract to the team's fee wallets using the transfer() function instead of the call() function.
Risk/Impact: The transfer() function uses a hardcoded gas amount of 2300, meaning transactions could run out of gas as the team receives BNB.
Recommendation: The team should use .call.value{...}("") instead as it does not have a gas limitation.

Finding #2 - CoinManufactory - Informational

Description: The private swapETHForTokens() function is never called in the contract.
Recommendation: The swapETHForTokens() function and the SwapETHForTokens event could be removed to reduce contract size and deployment costs.

Contract Overview

  • The total supply of the token is set to 100 billion $TWD [100,000,000,000].
  • No public mint or burn functions are present, though the circulating supply can be decreased by sending tokens to the 0x..dead address.
  • At the time of writing this report, there are 1,742 total token holders. The token allocation is as follows:
    • 30.72% of the total supply has been sent to the 0x.dead address.
    • 30% of the total supply is locked in a PinkSale token locking contract and will unlock on January 30th, 2025.
    • 8.8% of the total supply is in Pancakeswap liquidity.
    • Of that liquidity, 85.92% of the LP tokens are locked in an unverified token locking contract and will unlock on January 30th, 2100.
    • 6.1% of the LP tokens belong to an EOA.
    • 5.6% of the LP tokens belong to an EOA.
    • The next five holders own a cumulative 9.42% of the total supply.

  • Although a maximum transaction amount is enforced on transfers, it is permanently set to 100 billion tokens (100% of the total supply).
  • There is a 1% Reflection fee, 1% Liquidity fee, and 5% Developer fee on all transfers where neither the sender nor the recipient is excluded from fees.
  • Although a Charity fee, Marketing fee, and Burn fee are present in the contract, each fee percentage is permanently set to zero.
  • The tokens collected through the Reflection fee are removed from the circulating supply; This serves as a frictionless fee redistribution that automatically benefits all token holders at the time of each transaction.
  • The tokens collected through the Liquidity fee and Developer fee are stored in the contract address. The tokens are swapped for BNB for the purpose of funding Pancakeswap liquidity and the Developer wallet when the following conditions were met:
    • The automatic liquidity add functionality is enabled by the team.
    • The threshold number of 20 million tokens in the contract address has been reached.
    • The contract is not currently performing an automatic liquidity add.
    • The caller is initiating a sell transaction via Pancakeswap.
  • Liquidity-adds are automatically performed by selling the tokens collected as fees, pairing the received BNB with the token, and adding it as liquidity to the BNB pair.
  • The LP tokens received through this process are sent to the 0x000 address.
  • The tokens collected through the Developer fee are swapped for BNB and sent to the team's Developer wallet.
  • As the contract is deployed with Solidity v0.8.15, it is protected from overflows/underflows.
  • The contract complies with the BEP-20 token standard.
Ownership Controls:
  • Ownership has been renounced by the team.
  • The owner was previously able to modify the Reflection fee, Liquidity fee, Developer fee, Charity fee, Marketing fee, and Burn fee to any percentages at any time.
  • The owner was previously able to exclude and include accounts from transfer fees and reward distribution.
  • The owner was previously able to update the maximum transaction amount to any value at any time.
  • The owner was previously able to enable/disable automatic liquidity adds at any time.
  • The owner was previously able to update the threshold number of tokens needed to trigger an automatic liquidity add to any value at any time.
  • The owner was previously able to set the team's Developer wallet, Marketing wallet, and Charity wallet to any addresses at any time.

What is a SourceHat Audit?

Typically, a smart contract audit is a comprehensive review process designed to discover logical errors, security vulnerabilities, and optimization opportunities within code. A SourceHat Audit takes this a step further by verifying economic logic to ensure the stability of smart contracts and highlighting privileged functionality to create a report that is easy to understand for developers and community members alike.

How Do I Interpret the Findings?

Each of our Findings will be labeled with a Severity level. We always recommend the team resolve High, Medium, and Low severity findings prior to deploying the code to the mainnet. Here is a breakdown on what each Severity level means for the project:

  • High severity indicates that the issue puts a large number of users' funds at risk and has a high probability of exploitation, or the smart contract contains serious logical issues which can prevent the code from operating as intended.
  • Medium severity issues are those which place at least some users' funds at risk and has a medium to high probability of exploitation.
  • Low severity issues have a relatively minor risk association; these issues have a low probability of occurring or may have a minimal impact.
  • Informational issues pose no immediate risk, but inform the project team of opportunities for gas optimizations and following smart contract security best practices.
